Daukaia helps children and families in Ocotal build a safer, more sustainable future. A future grounded in learning, creativity, care, and community.
We provide a safe space where children can grow, supported by trusted adults and provided with opportunities to learn, play, and thrive. Through education, emotional support, personal development, and environmental awareness, we help young people discover their strengths and shape their own futures.
We believe change begins with belonging. That’s why we nurture strong relationships, celebrate local culture and creativity, and work alongside families and schools to plant the seeds of lasting transformation.
Who we are
We are a small volunteer-run organization led by a school teacher in Norway, and with a small, passionate team on the ground.
We believe in the transformative power of community, and foster long-term impact through a holistic, grassroots approach that combines education, empowerment, and sustainable practices.
And, of course, we’re able to do this thanks to the kind donations from people who choose to care and lend a helping hand. With your help we can truly make dreams come true.

We worked with Betty for three years to help her find her own voice, get an education and build her grit and confidence. Today, she is a young and driven accountant, feeling fulfilled at work and helping her family thrive.
